UNICEF Canada— Competitive and Usability Anaylsis

Opportunity
Analyst — O-Media was asked to provide Competitive and Usability Analysis as well as best practice recommendations for the in-house development of UNICEF Canada’s new web presence.

Action
Having worked to maintain the 6 year old site while Director of Interactive Media at Mosaic, we came to the project with a certain amount of knowledge in hand. Based on the organizations mission statement and equipped with an understanding of internal resources, O-Media created a comprehensive profile of the competition within both the sector of operations and target user expectations. A detailed and comprehensive survey of the competition was conducted and analyzed. Focus was centered on usability, technology and design, and content. Research was conducted on the latest in the media’s emerging best practices. A comprehensive report of the analysis and recommendations was provided.

Result
UNICEF Canada’s new web sites (information and ecommerce) went online within the following year, incorporating many of the recommendations included in O-Media’s report. The sites have been very successful in meeting their intended goals.
